Round Rock, TX, United States (AHN) – Dell Inc. announced Thursday fiscal fourth quarter earnings slipped 5 percent, but that revenue grew 11 percent as sales were strong across all of its business units.

For the fourth quarter, the PC maker posted net income of $334 million or 17 cents a share, a slight decline compared to the 18 cents a share earned in the same period a year earlier.

Revenue grew both year-over-year and sequentially, up 16 percent to $14.9 billion compared to the third quarter. Growth was spurred by a 16 percent increase in product shipments.

Shipments were particularly strong for Dell’s notebooks, up 32 percent from last year, a sign that a consumer rebound may be material. Consumer products saw an overall shipment increase of 29 percent.

“We continue to listen to and engage closely with customers through millions of conversations and interactions each day, enabling Dell to provide more relevant, value-oriented solutions to help meet their unique needs,” said Chairman and CEO Michael Dell in a press release.

Dell also saw a rebound in the commercial side of its business with revenue rising 11 percent, led by a 17 percent increase in enterprise systems.

“Our commercial units are well poised for profitable growth as demand continues to return because we’re meeting customer requirements for higher-value, higher-margin servers, storage systems and services,” CFO Brian Gladden added.

Dell did not provide any specific earnings guidance, but did say it is positioned for growth. Analysts are expecting first quarter Dell earnings to hit $529.6 million on revenue of $13.5 billion.
